Copper
Copper is one of the most valuable scrap metals. It's used in electrical wiring, plumbing, and electronics.
Aluminium
Aluminium is lightweight and widely recycled. Common in cans, window frames, and automotive parts.
Brass
Brass is a copper-zinc alloy commonly found in taps, fittings, valves, and ornaments.
Steel
Steel is the most recycled material in the world. Found in cars, appliances, construction, and industrial equipment.
Lead
Lead is a dense, heavy metal found in batteries, flashing, pipes, and roofing materials.
Iron
Cast iron and wrought iron are heavy and commonly found in old radiators, pipes, weights, and machinery.
Bronze
Bronze is a copper-tin alloy found in bearings, bushings, statues, and marine fittings.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is an iron alloy containing at least 10.5% chromium, giving it its characteristic corrosion resistance. UK scrap prices are driven primarily by the nickel content of the alloy — 304 grade commands a significant premium over 430 grade. Keeping stainless completely separate from carbon steel is essential.
Zinc
Zinc is a blue-white metal widely used in galvanising, die casting, and brass alloy production. UK scrap zinc comes primarily from hot-dip galvanised steel, die-cast components from vehicles and appliances, and old roof sheeting or guttering.
