Steel, or stainless steel for that matter, is the third most commonly traded type of scrap metal and there is a very high demand for it in much of the United Kingdom. Demand seems to be higher in areas where there is a lot of manufacturing done, which makes a lot of sense, and so if it is not too far for you to travel to these areas, it would be worthwhile selling your scrap there. Scrap steel prices in a lot of areas do vary substantially, but in areas where the demand is high, you will find that it is actually very stable. We have seen a surge in the demand for steel in the UK over the past 5 years and so now seems to be a really great time to start recycling it, it is not clear how long that these high prices will stick around for. However, we’re definitely advocating selling it to local scrap yards near you sooner rather than later. Let us know if you require any assistance in finding a scrap yard, dealer or recycling facility near you and we will help you as soon as possible.
